Jeff German & the Blankety Blanks
FREE SHOW in the Bootlegger.
Quality and passion are self-evident and their own reward. Jeff German’s yeoman efforts as a songwriter,
lead-guitar player, and front-man, show a singular dedication to the art form of Mid-West working class
storytelling that is often lost to time or pretense. Jeff’s songs are sincere and pure.
Jeff’s songs are sincere and pure. They blend sweet licks over strong melodies and honest lyrics that are served best with cold beer after a long week. His first solo album, “12 Rounds”, released March 2014, adheres to the gospel of six strings and storytelling. His songwriting and clever arrangements caught the attention of Slothtrop Records label President, Eric Hester who signed Jeff In December of 2013 to a three record deal. Slothtrop Records re-released “12 Rounds” on their label in March of 2014 and subsequently released the video to the single “Sit and Think” in April of 2014. In September of 2015, Slothtrop Records released “12 Packs, 8 Tracks and B&W TV”, German’s sophomore release, earning high praise from notable press including “No Depression” Magazine. Soon after, Slothtrop released the music video “Hang-On”, a poignant song about rushing to say goodbye to a dying loved one. 2017 saw the release of the EP/Split Record, “12 Fret nights”-a rocking and powerful set of five songs finding itself in heavy rotation on many NPR Americana radio stations and “12 Day Weeks”- the stripped down acoustic interpretations of the same songs featuring just Jeff and his talented good friend, Matthew Wilson, on pedal steel. This folky duo has caught the attention of crowds across the country this summer. The full band is still very much in place and includes musicians, Jeff German: Lead Guitar/Vocals, Matthew Wilson: Pedal Steel/Guitar/Percussion/Background Vocals, Brady Oxender: Drums and Matthew Newman: Bass. Jeff can serve up his brand of Americana as a full rocking band or intimate acoustic duo.
